At the age of 16, I first encountered Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2, and in that moment, something within me shifted. I didn’t yet know what music truly was, or how it could stir such deep emotions in a person. I had no experience with instruments, no formal training, but the piece moved me in a way I couldn’t explain. It was a spark, and that spark led me to discover the transformative power of music.
By chance, I met my first teacher, Raid Elias, who introduced me to the piano. Under his guidance, I quickly advanced, progressing through four levels in a short amount of time. His lessons ignited a fire within me, and I knew this was the path I had to follow.
Soon, I had the honor of studying under the Iraqi-Czech concert pianist, Natasha Al Radi. With her, I spent three years honing my technique and learning not only how to play, but how to communicate music to an audience. Natasha’s mentorship deeply influenced my understanding of performance and musical expression, shaping me into a more thoughtful and intentional musician.
My musical journey took me to Lebanon, where I continued my studies at the École de Musique Antonine. There, I earned my diploma in piano under Professor Armen Kachik, the Head of the Piano Department. My studies didn’t stop there; I also delved into harmony and composition under the direction of Dr. Fadi Tawk, the school’s director, and further expanded my understanding of conducting and orchestration with Maestro Garo Avessian.
Throughout my musical development, I had the privilege of performing both as a soloist and an accompanist. I also found joy in teaching—working with students both in schools and privately, and serving as a church pianist and conductor for various choirs and music bands. These experiences enriched my musical life and gave me the opportunity to share my love for music with others.
One of my deepest dreams had always been to compose music of my own. After moving to Canada, I immersed myself in music composition, studying with Professor Alexander Pozdnyakov. Under his tutelage, I found the space to create and have now composed over 20 pieces. But the journey didn’t stop there—I have continued to compose prolifically, with numerous works to my name. Each composition reflects my journey, my growth, and my passion for sharing the beauty of music with the world.
I am also currently expanding my musical horizons, learning to play the organ and exploring the world of jazz music. These new studies are opening up fresh creative avenues, enriching both my performances and compositions.
This journey, from that first moment with Chopin to where I am today, has been one of continuous learning, growth, and discovery. Music is not just a craft for me—it’s a calling, a language that connects the heart and soul, and I’m grateful for every step I’ve taken along the way.
